Edna Swiss, 82, of Harbor Springs, died Aug. 8, 1999.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs. Pastor Edward Warner will officiate.
Edna was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Readmond Township, the daughter of Robert and May (Sheffield) Johnston. She attended Sogonosh School.
She married Stephen Swiss and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Swiss made her home in the Harbor Springs area all of her life.
She operated a day care center out of her home, caring for many children from her family and her neighbors' families.
She attended Harbor Springs Friendship Center, and enjoyed gardening.
Her joy in life was caring for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include six children, Raymond and his wife, Pat, of Ishpeming, Gerry and Joanne of Harbor Springs, Leta Gregory and her husband, Hazen, of Traverse City, Carol Fowler of Jacksonville, Fla., Shirley Peckham and her husband, John, of Okemos, and Ellen Morse of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Hickman, of Petoskey; and one brother, Marvin Johnston, of Petoskey. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Springs Friendship Center. Envelopes for memorials will be available at Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, Aug. 10.
